Special thanks to Chris Lee for all of his help. MORE IMPORTANTLY, we have a
new drummer! Andy Baker, of The B Movie Rats, was recruited for his insane
drumming, his ability to maintain the Morgue nocturnal party schedule, and
for being an all around badass. The Morgue was never merrier! Look for Andy's
vital statistic coffin soon if we can find a coffin tall enough for him.
Micheal Brueggen is still drumming with Supagroup, so you can see his ass at
SXSW too! ALSO, The E.P. will be officially released in May with East Coast
dates to follow-BEWARE!!!!
January 2003
Happy New Year, fiends and freaks! The Morgue has been too busy rockin' to update lately, so here's the past couple of months: November was a month of celebrities and idols for the band- first they got to play with X at the Shim Sham in New Orleans, to a packed soldout crowd. Meeting all 4 original members was almost as much of a thrill as seeing them perform all of their classics. Two days later the Morgue was flying to L.A., with their first night in town playing to a packed crowd at Dragonfly that included Ron Wood, Slash and Mat Sorum! Meeting a Rolling Stone proved more invigorating for the band than enbalming fluid! The next night at the Viper Room the band played with Brant Bjork's new band, and after an encounter with Anna Nicole Smith, got to visit with Sean's old bandmates, J. and Johnny Tempesta. A dinner party at J.s with Lux and Ivy finished off the trip, making all ghouls happy and ready to fly back to the land of cemeteries. December was spent filming a video for "Get Out of my House", which will probably be up on this site very soon! On New Year's Eve the band rang in the New Year at Lounge Lizards, with special guest basher Keith Hajjar on drums, and many fellow ghouls in attendance!
October 2002
Just in time for Halloween, the Morgue has just completed the recording of a six song e.p.,with Daniel Rey producing(of Ramones fame). The e.p. is entitled "Some Ghouls" and includes the band's cover of the Rolling Stone's "Shattered". The recording took place at New Orleans new Truck Farm Studios, and the band was very happy to work with former Kingsway engineers Trina Shoemaker and Andrew Gilchrist- not to mention the assistance of owners Karen Brady, Dave Pirner, Georgia, and the inimitable Larry. At one point the band worried all was lost when the room was overrun by a pack of wild dogs, but their input proved invaluable.A limited number has been pressed which will be available only through this website and live shows, so grab yours now!
The band is now gearing up for more New York City dates (see Funeral Services for dates) , and of course, Halloween festivities in the creepiest city around, New Orleans!
Also in RCM news... while Sean was away the last week of September in Tokyo doing Famous Monsters shows, Rhoades was having a birthday bash at El Matador with fellow friends Queens of the Stone Age and Mondo Generator, with impromptu performances from Mondo Generator and Rhoades elusive side band, the Gnarltones. Let's just say the evening was alot w ilder than our last two hurricanes!
August 2002
Hello, fellows fiends + freaks! The Morgue recently jetted to New York City for a string of shows, raising all hell along the way, and raising a few eyebrows as well. After rocking at clubs such as Luxx, Don Hill's, + Meow Mix, the band promptly wnt on nocturnal rampages, shutting down local haunts Niagra, the Black and White, and Manitobas. The band was pleasently surprised at friends and fans that showed up-seen at gigs were C.J. Ramone, Bonge, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Andrew U.K., Lenny Kaye, Sean & Rik of The Toilet Boys, Night Bob,+ Allegra of the Fire Gods. A good time was had by all, and a return trip is in the works for October.
The band is currently back in New Orleans, preparing for their first recording. With the help of producer Danielle Rey (famed Ramones producer) the Morgue plans on recording a five song E.P. in the month of August. More details to come.
Meanwhile, the band is back to New Orleans nocturnal living-tearing at local haunt The Saint. Recently a party was thrown there for Johnny Hotwheels birthday (July 9th), and Morgue crooner Rik Slave who had a birthday (July 25th) which entailed many exotic cocktails and a trip to the graveyard.
The band hopes you are preparing for the halloween season- of course the Morgue is always prepared, whith many tricks + treats brewing in the lab. Meanwhile, stay tuned for more haunted tales of horror, mayhem and murder in the Rock City Morgue.
